Background of the Study
Patient satisfaction is a key indicator of the quality of healthcare services and a critical factor in determining the overall success of healthcare delivery systems. Nurses, as the primary caregivers in most healthcare settings, directly influence patient satisfaction through the quality of their care, communication skills, and ability to provide emotional and physical support (Olawale & Hassan, 2024). In Zamfara State, where healthcare challenges include limited resources and a high burden of communicable diseases, understanding patient satisfaction with nursing care is essential for improving healthcare outcomes.
The quality of nursing care in Zamfara State is impacted by various factors, such as inadequate staffing, limited training opportunities, and a lack of modern medical equipment. This study seeks to assess patient satisfaction with nursing care in Zamfara State, identify factors influencing satisfaction, and provide recommendations for improving nursing practices in the state.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the growing emphasis on improving healthcare quality in Nigeria, patient satisfaction with nursing care in Zamfara State remains an under-researched area. Factors such as long waiting times, insufficient nurse-patient ratios, and the lack of professional development opportunities for nurses can negatively affect patient experiences and satisfaction (Ahmed et al., 2024).
Given the essential role of nurses in patient care, it is crucial to assess how satisfied patients are with nursing care in Zamfara State and to identify areas for improvement.
